PM condemns desecration of Dayan's grave

Speaking at memorial service for late Minister Rehavam Ze'evi, Netanyahu says prevalence of vandalism of graves, holy sites is unacceptable

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denounced the desecration of former Defense Minister Moshe Dayan 'sgrave on Tuesday, saying that the deed and others like it were "unacceptable."
Speaking at a memorial service held on Mount Herzl for former Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi, the prime minister lamented the fact that the vandalism of graves and holy sites has become widespread.

Extolling Ze'evi, who was known by the nickname Gandhi, Netanyahu said that the late minister "was murdered because he stood for our ties to our country."

He further noted that Ze'evi, like Dayan, "belonged to Israel 'sfounding generation."
Ze'evi was assassinated in 2001 by terrorists belonging to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Top Israeli politicians and military officers attended the service.
Dayan's grave was vandalized by unknown vandals on the 31st anniversary of his death. The words "The minister of failure, on behalf of the fallen" were painted in red on his tombstone at the Nahalal cemetery Tuesday morning. Police have launched an investigation.
